High Tatras walking holiday and Kraków

Explore the High Tatras on five walking days with mountain-hotel stays, then continue to Kraków. Mirando al Sur’s nine-day itinerary visits parts of Slovakia and Poland, combining lakes, forests and mountain views.

This is the more moderate alternative to the hut-to-hut trek. Mountain hotels provide overnight comfort between stages, while walking is combined with transfers and a planned cable-car descent.

Your mountain trip with Mirando al Sur

Štrbské Pleso, Popradské Pleso, Sliezsky Dom and Skalnaté Pleso link the Slovak section. The journey then moves to Zakopane for the Polish lakes before its cultural finish in Kraków.

The published difficulty is low within a mountain-walking context. Days still reach around four to 5½ hours, with up to around 650 m ascent. Comfortable accommodation does not replace the fitness needed to walk on consecutive days.

Frequently asked questions

How does this differ from the High Tatras trek?

This programme uses mountain hotels and more moderate walks. The hut-to-hut trek has longer stages and larger height differences. Compare this option if overnight comfort is a priority.

Do we walk on all nine days?

No. There are five walking stages, with arrival, transfers, Kraków and departure on the other days. One mountain day is short and includes a planned cable-car descent.

Which is the longest planned walk?

The Polish lakes day is around 5½ hours, with 650 m ascent and descent. The Velké Hincovo stage also involves around 650 m ascent.

Do we stay in the same hotel throughout?

No. The Slovak section uses different mountain accommodation, followed by hotels in Zakopane and Kraków. This lets the itinerary progress without returning to the same base.

Is the Kraków city tour included?

A guided tour in Spanish is included. Confirm language arrangements if you need another language; meals and services not expressly included are separate.

Is Auschwitz-Birkenau a compulsory visit?

No. The guided visit is optional and needs confirmation with the agency. The stay in Kraków remains part of the journey.

Does a low difficulty rating make it suitable for everyone?

No rating can assess an individual. You should be able to walk for several hours on consecutive days and discuss your experience and needs before selecting a departure.
