Guided winter ascent of Veleta in Sierra Nevada
Discover the winter mountains of Sierra Nevada on a guided ascent of Veleta by its normal route. Choose a walking or ski touring option according to your experience and the snow conditions.
The planned route starts at Hoya de la Mora, passes Virgen de las Nieves and heads towards Las Posiciones, with views of Veleta’s north face. The ascent follows the normal route rather than the technical north face.
The published Alpine grade is F, with low technical and moderate physical demands. This can be an introductory winter summit outing, but fitness for walking at altitude is essential. Basic winter movement skills are practised during the activity; the guide assesses conditions and the group.
Experience and preparation
For the ski touring option, you need basic parallel turns on red pistes. Ask about ski equipment hire if needed.
